Yari and David created a "movie night" wedding. It was held at Cinebistro in Tampa. Very cool place. They had a red carpet at the door, popcorn was served during the ceremony, and well, wait til you see their outfits for the day!

Gale Force wind:

A gale is a very strong wind. There are conflicting definitions of how strong a wind must be to be considered a gale. The U.S. government's National Weather Service defines a gale as 34–47 knots (63–87 km/h, 17.5–24.2 m/s or 39–54 miles/hour) of sustained surface winds.[1] Forecasters typically issue gale warnings when winds of this strength are expected.

Other sources use minimums as low as 28 knots (52 km/h) and maximums as high as 90 knots (170 km/h). Through 1986, the National Hurricane Center used the term gale to refer to winds of tropical force for coastal areas, between 33 knots (61 km/h) and 63 knots (117 km/h). The 90-knot (170 km/h) definition is very non-standard. A common alternative definition of the maximum is 55 knots (102 km/h).[2]

So, while on Sunday at Lexy and Yvon's wedding we certainly did have strong winds.... well, maybe a bit short of Gale Force.... And... boy am I glad I looked THAT up.... sheesh.

Regardless, the ceremony was moved to the side walkway of their beach rental. Lexy and Yvon had hoped for a Beach Ceremony, but.... this is Florida after all, so we go with the flow, usually the weather. All in all, was a great time for everyone, and in the end, Lexy and Yvon DID get some time on the beach. Here's their sneak peek:

DETRACT? WHAT?

Mhm, you heard me right. Those people who think they are helping.... aren't.

Let me start from the beginning. I know why they do it. We've all been to a wedding where the photographer just... well, wasn't. They were stupid, insensitive, had no idea what they were doing, or simply shouldn't be a wedding photographer. After that frustrating and depressing experience, many folks take it upon themselves to help you out on your wedding. You know, to "save you from that idiot phtotographer". Now, while that might be true in the case of the moron they saw that one time, if you hired an actual professional Wedding Photographer, trust me, they're not going to help.

Too many times we've had people either in the way, or distract us from doing our job, that YOU paid for! We try to be nice, and understanding, after all, their heart is in the right place. However, seldom do they actaully provide any real assistance. Some interesting comments that I've compiled over the years:

1) I once overheard the bride's grandfather say, "I'm taking photos so I KNOW my granddaughter has great pictures of her wedding." Said while using a pocket sized camera, and he was about 90, so his hands shook terribly, and he insisted on getting in front of me for every shot he took. All in all, I think we lost about 20 minutes of photo time, and last I heard not one of his photos were clear or sharp. So, time wasted for nothing. Not helping.

2) "I'm a professional photographer. And its my duty to photograph my family's wedding!" Uhm... yeah, right. If they wanted you to be "THE" Photographer, they'd have hired you to do it, not us. Sorry, not helping.

3) "I'm the bride's brother." Ok, that means you should be sitting and watching the ceremony rather than standing up right behind your sister, thereby ruining all of her professional photos. Again, sorry, not helping.

4) "But I need to get a shot of that!" Said right as I am working with a group of family or bridal party. First off, I missed my shot. Second, the group is now paying attention to you, so I can't get my shot. Third, they get everything I shoot with reproduction rights. They can simply give a copy to you. I would assume mine to be better anyway. Again, not helping.

Now, don't get me wrong, guests can fire away, all night long. Just don't get in the way for the important stuff: Ceremonies, Formals, Cake Cutting (I actually had a guest shove me out of the way during a cake cutting once, blocked me completely. Think about that for a minute. Yeah), Garter Tosses, etc. And.... don't stand up at the altar, or act like Paparazzi all day, firing off flash after flash in the bride's face. Get some momentos of the occasion, enjoy yourself, be a guest. Thats why they invited you, not paid you!
